Serving Our Neighbors with Mercy

Our life of worship flows into action. Through outreach, partnership, and compassion, we seek to meet real needs in Washington, DC.

We Serve Because Christ Served Us

At St. John the Merciful, our life together as a parish flows from worship into service. As a mission community in Southeast Washington, DC, we are committed to meeting real needs in our neighborhood and beyond.

Through the love of Christ and the generosity of our supporters, we seek to respond with compassion, dignity, and practical care. Every effort reflects the heart of our patron saint, who gave freely to those in need.

Food Support & Nourishment

Since our founding in 2016, a major focus of our outreach has been addressing food insecurity in Wards 7 and 8 of Washington, DC. Early on, we partnered with local charities to provide thousands of meals to families and individuals in need. Today, our parish continues to explore expanded ways to serve consistently and sustainably.

Our building now includes space for gathering, storage, and assembling food donations, enabling us to support local families more effectively.
